Frequently Asked Question

Do people really win?

Yes! 150 people, every single week win with the Compton Care Lottery, that’s almost 8,000 people every year. If you’d like to meet some of our winners or have a look at our previous winners lists, then click here or go to our Winners page.

How does it work?

When you join the Compton Lottery, you’ll be given a unique number which you’ll keep for as long as you’re a member. It’s just £1 to enter and the draw takes place every Friday with winners being selected at random with the first prize being selected first and so on (through compliant software). You can also buy one off tickets for a particular weekly draw. All numbers have an equal chance of being drawn, with a guaranteed 150 prizes every week.

How do I claim my prize?

We will automatically send out prize cheques within 10 days of the draw taking place, so if you’re one of our lucky winners and we have your details, there’s no need to claim your prize. You can still check your lottery number yourself if you want to. Check your number here.

Why do you give away so much money? You’re a charity, couldn’t it be better spent?

We get this question a lot, and we completely understand why. The simple answer is, lotteries are a great way to raise both awareness and funds for us. Last year our lottery raised over £500,000 which went directly to caring for the families of local people. If we stopped running our lottery, we would lose that money and not be able to help as many people as we do. So as long as our community needs us then we will fundraise to support them.

Is this legal?

Our lottery is 100% legal. We work very closely with the Gambling Commission, Hospice Lotteries Association and Fundraising Regulator to make sure that we are compliant. We make sure that every ticket bought gets entered and has the same chance of winning. For more details you can read our terms and conditions here.

Compton Care Lottery Ltd is licenced and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account number 4882. Terms and Conditions plus information about our services can be found here. I think I may have a problem with gambling, what should I do?

Problem gambling can sneak up one anyone at any stage of their life, be assured you are not the only one out there that has been through this. We recommend that you get in touch with GAMCARE either via phone 0808 8020 133 or online at www.gamcare.org.uk as soon as you feel ready. There are lots of wonderful people there that will support you in a way that suits you. When you’re ready to talk, they are ready to listen, so please do reach out to them. It’s also important to self-exclude from any organisations such as ourselves that run lotteries. So please let us know if you think you do have a problem and we’ll support you by not contacting you again about our lottery programmes. You will still be welcome to join in our other fundraising activity if you want to keep supporting our work, but we want to make sure that its in the best way for you to do so. You can call us on 0300 323 0250 or via our contact form. Please note that anyone wishing to self exclude will have their details placed on an exclusion database and will not be able to re-join the lottery or participate in any of our raffles or draws for a minimum of 6 months.

Are there other ways to play?

Yes of course. If you don’t fancy signing up online, you can always give us a call on 0300 323 0250 or pop into one of charity shops and either fill in a signup form or buy yourself a ticket for that week’s draw. And don’t forget to watch out for a Super Draw in December, with even bigger prizes to be won.

Someone has just been to my house saying they are from your lottery?

We work with a local company called Fundsol who kindly support our lottery work by visiting local areas to raise awareness and asking local people to join us, so you have most likely spoken to one of our team. But if you want to double check then either call our office on 0300 323 0250 or have a look at our teams page for more information.
